OUR MAJOR AREA OF FOCUS
We have spent long hours working and researching to
improve the curriculum, since this is the area that we
focus on the most. After discussing the existing curriculum at length
with our teachers and many other experienced educators in the field, we
have formulated a plan to include additional tools and materials.
These include more Language & Literacy programs by one
of the leaders in the industry "SCHOLASTICS" and their
popular "Read-Alouds", "Phonemic Awareness Programs", "Rhymes & Poetry".
Flash cards, Audio tapes and age appropriate books. We are incorporating
daily audio tapes to guide children in learning their phonics, vowels
as well as numbers. Also, we are including additional Math & Concepts,
Science, Social Studies in the form of hands on activities as well as
standard written and learning exercises.
As we go we are continuing to learn and work more to include different methods to improve
and strengthen our curriculum and to ensure that our students receive a well rounded academic
and social program that would in turn prepare them for any challenges ahead. We will continue
to search for ways to make it more stimulating and progressive to assist in their growth at
all levels.
Music & Movement
Music & Movement will be part of our daily curriculum. A child's involvement with music includes
listening, creative activities related to singing, body movement, laying, making instruments and
aesthetic examination. Music & Movement activities nurture the development of minds, bodies,
emotions and language as well as fostering small and large muscle development and physical fitness.
Arts & Crafts
Art is fundamental to the growth of the child and is a visual communication using color, line,
shape and imagination in place of words; thus giving birth to an important creative process.
Children will be supplied with materials that involve all
forms of arts and giving them the time, space and flexibility
for creating. Creative materials will include large easels,
non-toxic paint, finger paint, crayons, pencils, sponges,
play-dough, goop, and other craft items. |
